Happy Halloween

Some of my favorite days are the days after holidays! I love when stores put all their holiday merchandise 50% (or more) off. This is when I stock up for the next year. You can even find items that can be given as gifts all throughout the year! I must admit that the day after Christmas is a tradition in my family and we are always at Target, Hallmark and Kohl's at around 6am! Here are some things I recommend stocking up on at the reduced price!

• Holiday themed books (last year Target put these on clearance too)

Necco Wafers ~ Review

I was recently given the opportunity to try out all natural Necco Wafers thanks to twittermoms. Necco Wafers have been around since 1874. They are a multi-colored, fat-free wafer available in eight flavors. In order to make them all natural, beet juice, purple cabbage, cocoa powder and turmeric were used in the new wafers. There is one color missing from the all natural packs; green is no longer included. The lime flavor of the green Necco Wafer could be reproduced naturally, but the color not as easy to maintain. The remaining sever colors/flavors are orange (orange), lemon (yellow), clove (pink), cinnamon (white), wintergreen (purple), licorice (gray) and chocolate. The chocolate now comes in variations of milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate and mocha. All Natural Necco Wafers are gluten free and so are the chocolate rolls!

How is the assortment of Necco Wafers in a package determined?

		Six hundred-pound batches of each wafer flavor are made. The wafers are then mixed together and packaged. While we make about equal quantities of each flavor, the reason some rolls have more or less of each flavor is that the assorting process is random. Trays of candies containing two or more colors are put in bins. They are added in rotation so that each color combination is represented, and then they start the cycle over again. As the candies move to the wrapping machines, they are mixed a little more. There are thousands of pieces of candy sliding into the wrapping machines and the 38 – 40 pieces that go into any roll is dependent upon which pieces are next in line. This also applies to Snack Size Necco Wafers.

I was first introduced to Necco Wafers years ago when a school friend ate them all the time! I received a bag of all natural snack size packs and a few snack sized packs of the chocolate wafers. My favorite flavors are cinnamon and lemon. In my opinion these two have the biggest flavor punch! I could not taste too much variation from the original Necco Wafers. The chocolate ones had good flavor without the mess or calories! Necco Wafers are perfect to carry around in your purse, send in care packages or for a quick snack. They are low in calories and they don't melt, so no mess! What Mom doesn't love a mess free all natural snack? The new all natural Necco Wafers should be available at a store near you just in time for Halloween or you can purchase them online at the Necco Store.

Microwave Sterilizer Bags

I registered for a sterilizer with my 1st child and used it some but it just got too bulky and it was hard to find a place to store it between uses. I picked up a package of the Medela Quick Clean bags to use while we were traveling and I was hooked! It is so easy to use these. All you need is a microwave and water! These are easy to store and can be used multiple times. You place a check mark on the bag each time you use it (20 times per bag). I have also used the Munckin brand and find that they both are quality products. Each will kill up to 99.9% of bacteria and germs on bottles, nipples, pacifiers and breast pump accessories in under 3 minutes. I did run across one pacifier the other day that you could not put in them because it had metal in it and therefore could not go in the microwave (was one of those that closes shut when it drops). These bags can be purchased at most baby stores, Target and online.

Some great places to keep one of these bags are in your diaper bag/car or at the Grandparents house!

Go Green with Reusable Shopping Bags!

Many stores offer discounts to customers who bring their own reusable bags when shopping. Most often the incentive is cents off your total order per bag.

Grocery Stores: Many of these offer $0.05 per bag off your total purchase.

CVS: You can purchase a “green” tag for $0.99. You will want to attach this to your bag or carry it with your Extra care card because this tag must be scanned in order for it to count towards your reward. After every fourth shopping trip, a $1 Extra Buck coupon will be print on your receipt.

Target is now offering a 5 cent credit for each reusable bag you bring. I have heard that this will start November 1^st as I have been to Target a few times over the weekend and never got a credit!

If you do not see the cashier enter the bag credit, remind them. Every cent counts! If you do not have any reusable bags they are available at most stores. They range from generic store ones, ones with college logos or even fancier reusable bags! You can purchase most of them for a minimal amount. Paid Survey Sites

Here is a list of some of the paid survey sites on the web. I currently take surveys on SurveySpot and Toluna. These sites will send you emails with survey links. Once you have completed the survey you see more surveys that fit your profile. Many of the sites that have a cash payout require you are owed a minimum amount before they will send a check (usually $10). I have requested and received checks from both of these companies. I recommend taking any high dollar surveys as soon as you receive them. If I get really busy and don't take them right away they usually have all the responses they need by the time I get around to taking them. Don't forget to create/use a junk email account when signing up for these. You will have to enter in your address in order to receive checks! I have just recently signed up for TestSpin and Clear Voice surveys and have high hopes for the Amazon gift cards.

American Consumer Opinion®
As a panel member, you will participate in several surveys a year. The average time rewuired for a survey is 10 minutes. Panel members can expect to receive a "screener" (a short questionnaire) about every six weeks. If you answer one of these you will be entered into a cash awards drawing. If you participate in a survey, you will always receive some type of incentive (a free product to test, cash, a check, or a gift). A monkey and frog play peek-a-boo in the leaves and a waterfall cascades gently into a pool where there's a fish! Joovy Caboose Ultralight Stand On Tandem Stroller

I LOVE this stroller! When we found out we were expecting baby number 2 I immediately started searching for the perfect "double stroller." I found a Graco one on craigslist that I picked up for my mom and it was so big it took up my entire trunk. I knew that a new car was not in the budget so I kept looking. I read about this one in a magazine and decided to go check it out at a local baby store. They had the sage color (which matches my car seat) and I was able to fold it up; have my son sit on the back etc. It folds up very compact which is great when you have a 4 door sedan rather than a van or suv. The Joovy Caboose Ultralight comes with the Cool Essential Neoprene Parent Organizer which has lots of pockets and 2 holders for bottled water or a small soda, probably would not hold my drink of choice a McDonald's sweet tea!

The only downside I have found is that you have to take the car seat adapter on and off every time you want to use it but it's really easy. I have been able to maneuver the stroller through Target with one hand while carrying a fussy baby!

I ended up buying the item from Amazon with a gift certificate I had won.
