Ten Tips for Being Fashionable on a Budget

Since I was pregnant this time last year I have been trying to pick up some new clothes.  I am very frugal when it comes to buying clothes for myself.  TwitterMoms and Gap Outlet have teamed up and provided this great discussion topic.  To read more great tips visit the TwitterMoms discussion page.

  1. Shop sales (duh)
  2. Always search for a coupon code before buying anything online
  3. Trade clothing and accessories with friends!
  4. You don't have to buy high end to be fashionable.
  5. Purchase clothes that are both fashionable and versatile.  You want to be able to wear it to work and at home.
  6. Accessorize!  When you add a belt, necklace, sweater, pin or scarf you can change the way a piece of clothing looks and no one will know you wore it last week.
  7. Make sure you follow the care instructions on the labels.  The easiest way to blow a budget is to ruin your clothes.
  8. When you find something that flatters your figure and has a good price tag, pick it up in multiple colors.
  9. If you have a favorite store, check and see if they have an outlet retailer where you can pick up quality products at reduced prices.
  10. Shop off season.  Pick up clothes when they go on clearance at the end of the season.
