NEW Purex Complete Crystals Softener Review & Giveaway

About: Introducing Purex® Complete Crystals SoftenerTM*; a purer way to get laundry that smells clean and fresh for weeks. 92% natural, this product’s unique crystal form works differently than traditional oil-based softeners that coat fabrics with oily residue, because it infuses fibers with long-lasting fragrance. In addition, since you add it directly with your laundry, this means no more waiting for the rinse cycle, no messy residual gunk in your washing machine, and no more stains from spilling liquid fabric softener.

Added with laundry at the start of the wash cycle.
Why struggle with plastic fabric softener balls, risk staining your clothes or waste time waiting for the rinse cycle? Simply add Purex Complete Crystals Softener directly with your laundry at the beginning of every wash cycle to infuse fabrics with long lasting freshness.

Crystals dissolves infusing fabrics with freshness
Laundry scent lovers will perk up as freshness is infused into clothes with this new fabric softener. Over time, traditional oil-based softeners coat fibers causing harmful oily residue to accumulate. Purex Complete Crystals Softeners penetrate fabrics to reduce fiber entanglement and smooth frayed fibers providing a naturally soft feel.

Safe for ALL laundry and better for fabrics.
Do ALL of your laundry—worry free! Purex Complete Crystals Softeners are safe for all laundry and will not harm, wear down or discolor your fabrics like oil-based softeners.  Safe for all fabrics, including baby clothes, athletic wear, towels, and whites. Unlike other softeners, Crystals WILL:
• Preserve the flame retardant benefits of your children’s clothes
• Retain your athletic wear’s wicking ability which draws sweat away from your body
• Maintain your towels’ built-in ability to absorb water
• Keep your white clothing from yellowing and graying vs. using traditional softeners

The product won’t harm your clothes and is safe and convenient for the entire family!

Review: The first thing I noticed about the Purex Complete Crystals Softener was the smell.  I received the Fresh Spring Waters and it smells wonderful.  The first thing I washed with it was some sheets, the softness combined with the scent is awesome.  I am also very excited that this product can be used with all of our laundry.  In the past I have not used softener on towels or on my kids clothes.  Having a single product I can use on everything will save me time and money.  I don't have to double check what's going into the wash, I can add Purex Complete Crystals Softener no matter what!

Buy it: Purex Complete Crystals Softener is available in three on-trend fragrances: Fresh Spring Waters, Lavender Blossom, and Tropical Splash.

This product is currently available at Walmart stores.

Win it: 3 lucky Coupon Clippin' Mommy readers will each win a coupon for a FREE bottle of Purex Complete Crystals Softener.

Christmas Angels Review & Giveaway

About: Christmas Angels features the coming and going of angels connected with the birth of Christ. Little ones will discover how God’s angels and their messages brought comfort and guidance to Mary, Joseph, and the shepherds at the amazing events surrounding the birth of Jesus.

Review: With the busyness of the holidays it was so nice to sit down with my kids and share this story.  Since it's a board book I didn't worry about either one of them tearing it up.  This allowed them to play with is and interact more with the pictures and story.  The story talks about the angels and what part they play in the Christmas story.  While it is a Christmas story I think it's one we could all hear year round and never get tired of.  It's also a very important message to share with our kids!

Buy it: Order a copy of Christmas Angels now, it's a story for all seasons!

Win it: 1 Coupon Clippin' Mommy reader will win their own copy of Christmas Angels to share with their family next year!

Mandatory Entry: Tell me one of your Christmas traditions.

Our Christmas Dessert

Let's just call it a yummy chocolate cake!

Ingredients:
1 box German Chocolate cake mix
14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
1 container of caramel ice cream topping
Cool Whip - thawed
2 crushed Heath Bars or a bag of heath bar topping

Directions:
Bake 1 box Devils Food cake mix. When done, poke holes in it with the end of a wooden spoon. Pour 1 can of Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed milk over the cake. Pour jar of caramel ice cream topping over it.  Ice with cool whip and sprinkle crushed Heath Bars on top of the cake.

Let the cake set 1/2 day or overnight in the refrigerator.

Sorry I don't have a picture.  We didn't get to stay and have dessert with my family because of the snow.  We took ours to go and ate it at home later.

Day After Christmas Shopping

I can't even tell you the last time I didn't go shopping the day after Christmas.  Whether I am in town or out of town I find the closet Target and find out when it opens.  I am there waiting in line with all the other crazy people to get that Christmas stuff 50% off.  This year we traveled to my parents house for Christmas day and were supposed to spend the night and I would go shopping with my mom and sister the next morning.  As Christmas day progressed the weather forecast for my area started to get worse and we worried that we might not be able to make in home on Sunday.  We packed up the presents, put the kids in their pajamas and headed home.  I woke up at 6am but decided it was too yucky out.  Thankfully my mom and sister were headed out so I was able to talk with them on the phone and have them pick me up a few things.  The deal seeker in me got the best and I did end up going out a little later.  I picked up some Scotch scissors (large) for 50 cents each as well as a few rolls of Christmas wrap that I plan to use for Birthdays, Anniversary's etc.

Do you pick up Christmas items and save them for next year?  How do you make sure you remember what you bought?

Love
by Lauraine Snelling

When asked to write a Christmas message, one of my first thoughts was Do I climb up on my soapbox regarding changing the words in Christmas songs, using only holiday, etc. I thought about it and decided no. After all, they’re only words and what difference does a word make---really make after all?

Then I kept on thinking. If they’re only words… But we as writers know the power of words, as do readers. When the wrong word is used, it jars, while the right word can be most powerful. Take one highly overused and under practiced word---Love. Four letters is all. We toss it around so glibly, saying love ya and luv and love. But think about the power in I love you. Three of the most precious words in our language when put together. Those of us who write romances or books with romance in them, understand the power when one of our characters tells another, I love you. As humans we can never hear that enough or too much.

Christmas is about love. The greatest love story ever told, that of God for us humans, and it never changes. Customs change, politics change, the years change but God’s love never, ever does. At Christmas we are invited to share that love, to give it away, to pass it around. To find wonder again and joy in simple acts of love. We make contact with people we might never see or talk with through the year. That says I love you. We buy and make gifts to give, we reach out to strangers in need, we try to make sure everyone has a special dinner and every child a present. By giving, we receive.

So, let’s use the power words, but more so, put feet on those words and pass the love around. Let’s look for and find the wonder, the joy and the peace, maybe in small bits and pieces and perhaps in an avalanche of blessings. Make your days brighter with the simple gift of a smile, a kind word, a touch, for every single one that you give away, will come back to you multiplied. As you give, so shall you receive. Merry Christmas my friends. May we all recognize our blessings----and let an attitude of gratitude permeate this holiday and every day. With love and joy on this day, Lauraine!

Guest Post: O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!

By Shannon Henrici of My Baby Clothes Boutique the only place to find beautiful baby headbands at great prices. Following her passions has lead her to a full and rich life, with a beautiful tree that tells the tale.

I can remember as a child lying under our family Christmas tree watching the lights blink inside the tree. I loved the view inside our Christmas tree, I guess that is a pretty good analogy for who I am. I appreciate the beauty found inside, not for the trimmings and dazzle on the outside. Fast forward to my family of a beautiful 2 year old little girl, a wonderful husband, and the many furry creatures that make my home complete. I look forward each year to putting up our own Christmas tree. It isn't the decorating or creating of a dazzling center of attention that I anticipate, it is so much more.

The decorating of my Christmas tree is a trip down memory lane, each ornament has a story to tell. I sit back and look at where I have been and where I am going as I stare at my beautiful tree. My very first tree in my very first apartment was where my journey began. I was just starting out, so money was tight. I didn't have much to spend on fancy decorations, so I decided to make my own. We had just gotten back from a trip to Sanibel Island, where we had collected hundreds of sand dollars. These sand dollars became my ornaments, with a little glue, glitter, ribbon and imagination - and Voila! I had a beautiful Christmas tree by the sea.
The following years I decided to collect ornaments from each of our adventures or just a memory of that year's celebrations. I still have one of those sand dollars from my first tree over ten years ago. I even have an ornament from my very first boss at my very first job right out of college, yikes! As time has moved on, many meaningful ornaments have been added to my collection. One year, I spent Christmas in New Orleans. I fell in love with their decorations and use of color. I brought this influence back to my own - Mardi Gras masks, beads of all colors and cajun holiday music.

My family started to grow with the addition of my furry children - dogs, cats, horses, ducks etc. Many of my ornaments showed this transition - angel dogs, funny cats, elaborately adorned horse decorations. Each one was bought with love for my children. Now on to marriage, I created an ornament to give to each guest to our celebration - of course this ornament was added as well.

With my passion for animals, I eventually found my way into running my own pet sitting business. Each of my customers were a part of my ever growing family. I painted ornaments to replicate their own adored pets as gifts one year. I always created something to show them how much I appreciated their business and loved their pets. As you can already guess, animal themed ornaments grew - gifts from clients, ones I created so on and so on.

My husband is from Peru, so of course we had to add ornaments from his native country. Handcrafted angels, tapestry covered balls, and alpaca ornaments enrich our tree. Today, I am a mom of a beautiful two year old little girl. You guessed it, my tree is filled with her handmade ornaments, pictures and handprints of my angel. I look forward to making ornaments together to add to the collection. I can just imagine the discussions we are going to have as we hang each ornament on our tree. One secret admission, I LOVE baby clothes. So much so that I even added miniature baby hats with scarves to my set. I learned to knit when I found out I was pregnant, so it only makes sense for me to add these favorite handmade items to my tree too.

These memories are why I love decorating my tree every year. I would love to have it up all year round, but I real trees just don't last that long. Each time I smell that crisp smell of pine, I reminisce about life. Our tree has so much to say as each branch is draped with history and memories!

What does your Christmas tree mean to you? Do you have ornaments from when you were a child? What theme do you like to use when decorating your tree?

An Unforgettable Gift
by Karen O'Connor

On Christmas morning, 1912, in Paducah, Kentucky, fourteen-year-old Charlie Flowers and his three brothers and two sisters huddled in their beds, fully dressed, trying to keep warm as the wind howled outside their small frame house.

It was a desperate time for the family. Earlier that year the children's father had died. And their mother had not found work. The coal had run out and there was little money––none for gifts. Their scrawny tree with decorations made from scraps of colored paper had been given to them the night before by a local merchant.

"Can't sell this one," the man said with a nod of his head before handing it over to the eager children.

To pass the time, the siblings joked and shouted stories from their bedrooms across the hallway from one another. Then suddenly a racket from the alley at the rear of the house broke into their games.

"Charlie," his mother called, "would you see what's going on out there?"

Charlie pulled on his shoes, grabbed a thick overcoat from the hook by the door, and ran out back.

There stood a man in a wagon bent over a load of coal, shoveling it into the shed as fast as he could.

"Hey Mister, we didn't order any coal," Charlie shouted. "You're delivering it to the wrong house."

"Your name's Flowers, isn't it?" the man asked, still shoveling.

Charlie nodded yes.

"Well then, there's no mistake.  I've been asked to deliver this to your family on Christmas morning." He looked the awe-struck boy square in the eye. "And I'm under strict orders not to tell who sent it," he teased.

Charlie ran into the house, his coattail flapping in the cold morning wind.  He could hardly wait to tell his mother and brothers and sisters. God had provided––just as he had on that first Christmas morning so long ago when He sent his only son to a needy world.

Charlie Flowers died in 1994 at age 96. And right up to the last year of his life, not a Christmas went by that he didn't tell the story of that sub-zero Christmas morning of his boyhood when two men gave his family an unforgettable gift.

It wasn't the coal that was remembered or cherished, Charlie often said––welcome as it was––but rather what two men brought to his desperate family. One, for his gift of recognizing their great need and taking the time to do something about it. And the other, for being willing to give up part of his own Christmas morning to deliver it.

That gift of so long ago has continued to warm the Flowers family from one generation to another, as Charlie's son––my husband, Charles––calls to mind these two unknown men each Christmas morning and whispers a prayer of thanks.

Star Kids Snack and Play Travel Tray - Review

About: The Star Kids Snack & Play Travel Tray provides a sturdy surface for travel treats and toys. Perfect for your on-the-go family, this tray is designed to meet the needs of today's travel-friendly children.

Convenience Wherever You Go
Every parent knows that when children can't reach items, they become upset. You have to stop the car or reach behind to get the items your child wants. This inconvenience can cause you delays, disruption, and stress. The Snack & Play Travel Tray enhances your driving experience by providing a flat, safe area for your child to eat and play. Fitting most booster seats, the Travel Tray goes wherever your car seat does--even on airplanes.

Child-Safe, Durable Design
Made of soft, durable, 100 percent nylon with soft foam reinforcement that folds on impact, the tray buckles around your child, car seat, or stroller. The Travel Tray is built with two large side pockets conveniently located within easy reach, as well as a two-inch wall to stop toys or food from falling off. Easy and safe to use, it is also washable.

Review: With holiday traveling in full swing the Star Kids Snack and Play Travel Tray would make a great travel companion.  My 3 year old is very busy and his playing doesn't stop when we get in the car.  He is always bringing some toy with him to keep him entertained.  The only problem is he drops them constantly.  When it's just me and the kids traveling I can't get it for him which leads to lots of drama in the back seat.  The Star Kids Snack and Play Travel Tray fits comfortably in his lap and keeps his toys and snacks right in front of him and off the floor.

Features:
  • Foam insert collapses on impact
  • Padded rim keeps toys and snacks on tray
  • Strap buckles around child in car seat or airplane seat
  • Sturdy nylon fabric
  • Two mesh side pockets
Every time we get in the car my son asks for his tray.  I have not had the need to use the strap around him as he keeps it on his lap.  If you use this product on a stroller I would recommend securing it with the strap.  The side mesh pockets are great for keeping items close by and within your child's reach.  This tray is a great investment (less than $20!) because your child can use it for years to come.  I hope to see the travel tray available in multiple colors in the future.  Keep up with Star Kids on Facebook and twitter.

Buy it: You can purchase the Snack and Play Travel Tray online or at a retailer near you.
