Consignment Sale Fun

I spent most of last week getting ready for consignment sale drop off this weekend.  I have never done one before so I didn't completely realize how much time it would take.  I think I will start hanging clothes now for the Fall sale!  I'm getting rid of a bunch of toys and some clothes.  I'm not sure how I will decide whether it was worth it or not but we're giving it a shot.  A benefit of consigning items is I get to shop early; not that my kids need anything at all but I like a good deal.

Mother's Day Gift Ideas for the Mom Who Has Everything

Does your mom seem to have everything and need nothing? Even the hardest to buy for mom should be honored with a thoughtful and memorable gift. Flowers and candy are a nice gesture but make this a Mother’s Day she will remember with a more personal touch.

Start with a homemade card if kids are involved. Picturesdrawn by the kids or handprints will melt her heart. Homemade cards are more meaningful than any card you could buy. Next, think outside the box...all of her interests and likes...perhaps one of these ideas will get you started.

1. Think about her hobbies and interests. If scrapbooking is her thing either choose supplies yourself or give her a gift certificate to a local scrapbook supply retailer. Give Every Night New Flavor: Dinner for 2 in 30 Minutes or Less!

Need help figuring out what's for dinner tonight? Kroger and  ConAgra have created an awesome website to help make dinner time new and exciting every night.  The site is called, Give Every Night New Favor.  The easy meal finder will guide you to the perfect dinner solution; complete with a shopping list and relevant coupons.

So, tell us what kind of cuisine you're craving, how much time you've got, and how many people you're cooking for, and we'll serve you with delicious dinner ideas. It's that easy.

I wanted to find something easy to make for my husband and I.  When choosing from Asian, Italian, Tex-Mex or American I was able to narrow it down by some of the meals that we had already had over the week.  This left me with Asian cuisine.  I searched through all the times to find the most appealing recipe.  Luckily one that sounded good also could be cooked in less than 30 minutes.  20 to be exact! 

Once I settled on a recipe I printed out the shopping list and headed to my local Kroger store.  We had a few items on hand an I tend to stick to the store brand items when possible to keep costs down for my family.  I was pleased to find every item in Kroger brand; making this a fast, easy and affordable meal.

Thai-Style Chicken Stir-Fry for Two

You can print the recipe out or I was able to view it on my iPod right while I was cooking.  I gathered all the ingredients, a saute pan, measuring cup and rice cooker.  I will admit, I wasn't sure I was going to be able to make this meal in 20 minutes to I decided to time it.

 

  Start time 5:21 pm.

I think the reason this meal is so quick is because you multi-task.  While the chicken is cooking in the saute pan you work on the sauce and cook the rice.

It's ready, 20 minutes later!

The only product I had some trouble finding was a frozen broccoli stir fry pack.  I figured this broccoli and veggie pack would work just fine and it turned out great.  My husband isn't a huge soy sauce fan so I didn't tell him what was in the sauce.  He could taste the peanut butter but had no complaints about the meal.

I did notice that there was one gluten free recipe however we had just had Italian so I didn't make it this time around.  I know I will be visiting the Give Every Night New Flavor site again.  It's easy to use, has a variety of recipes, saving me valuable time.

Review: The Infiniti Pro Hair Dryer has been a great addition to my morning routines...that is of course when time allows to actually dry my hair.  I think that wearing my hair down and blow drying it gives me a more grown up/sophisticated look.  With this hair dryer I have been able to do this a little quicker.  The concentrator helps me to dry the ends flipped under for a clean look.  

Have you ever been to a hotel that has a hair dryer but you might as well not even bother with it.  We went to a wedding a few weeks ago and it was like pulling teeth to actually get the hair dryer to dry my hair.  I wish I had taken my own!  The Infiniti Pro folds and has a travel bag for convenient storage and traveling.

Tavern Direct Asian Lemon Marinade Review & an Easy Recipe

I use a lot of pre-cooked chicken when making meals for my family.  I'm always begone about making sure chicken is cooked all the way so pre-cooked is an easy solution.  You can also heat up the chicken or
eat it cold.

I wanted to make myself a yummy but easy (and quick) lunch.  The chicken seemed like a great solution but on it's own it's a litle bland so I glanced around the fridge and spotted the Asian lemon Marinade it sounded Perfect.  Paired with some white rice I had a meal plan!

Quick & Easy Asian Lemon Chicken for 1

1/2 cup Pre cooked chicken strips about 1/4th of the package.

1 oz Asian Lemon Marinade

Heat in saute' pan over med-hi till bubbling

Pour over 1-2 cups white rice (cooked)

Quick & Easy Asian Lemon Chicken for 4

Whole package of pre-cooked chicken strips (9+ oz.)

3-4oz Asian Lemon Marinade

Heat in sauté pan over med-hi until bubbling

4 cups rice (cooked)

If you cook the rice in the microwave you can complete the meal in less than 15 minutes from fridge to table.

About: This app was designed by parents of young children for young children (pre toddler and older), Five Little Monkeys is a fun, interactive musical counting came based on the popular rhyme everybody knows and loves.

As the little monkeys jump on the bed, children build counting and math skills as well as color recognition by adding and subtracting different colored monkeys from play, simply by touching a monkey, or shaking the iPhone.  Interactive objects teach concepts like stop/go, on/off, open/close, a telephone, a door, even a monkey family portrait that reacts to the child's touch.


Review: I can't even count the number of times I read/told this story to my son.  He really seemed to cling to the monkeys jumping on the bed.  Maybe it's his rambunctious nature that attracts him to the monkeys behavior.  When you first start up the app you can choose which version you want, country, rock or pop.  This dictates how the song is sung.

This app is great entertainment for all hours of the day. My son talks about it long after he's listened to it. Before bed I can sit with my son and we can work through how many monkeys are still jumping. I like how I can read it with him or he can watch it on his own.

The graphics are very cute and it's also interactive adding to endless fun.
